PLAY BETTER GOLF RIGHT NOW!!

Monday, October 13, 2008
Confidence GOLF Mens POWER Hybrid Club Set & Stand BagAs a golfer I know how enjoyable the sport could be. I also know how frustrating it might be. When it can be going nicely, you hit great shots and make putts.

When it truly is going poor, golf could be torture! Am I appropriate? Who amid us hasn't wanted to snap a driver after missing a 100 lawn extensive fairway left or right out of bounds??? Who between us hasn't needed to hurl their wedge immediately after chunking a 90 property shot 10 yards into a huge open green?? And who amongst us hasn't wanted to toss their five iron in to the duck pond higher and farther than the tee golf ball we just rolled into said pond?? I can relate. Do you realize why it gets our blood boiling? INCONSISTENCY!

Take into consideration it. Your standing on the very first tee and in front of your morning cadre at the public membership you success a laser straight lower the middle say 280 yards. It is followed by a chorus of “Nice shot!”, “Great shot bud!” and the obligatory very first pump from the other 3 inside your group. This has happened to all of us. So why around the second tee do we strike a high banana fade into the dense pine trees? INCONSISTENCY!

Legendary golfer Ben Hogan would say the golf swing must be Consistant, Powerful, and Repeatable. CPR that’s right. Does your swing have to have CPR?

It is why most of us non-pros can experience these tremendous highs and dreadful lows. We then begin to tweak our pre-shot routine, slow it down, speed it up, twist our heads, tee it large, tee it low, no tee in any respect you name it! When caught in a funk just about anything will make sense to a golfer with the shanks.

Speedy story. A friend of mine ,2 handicap, was playing to qualify for the state amateur championship. His initial two rounds had been 75, seventy five par was 72 and he made the cutdown to your last 18 holes prior to beginning match play. On the very first gap he hit his drive off the toe in the membership along with the ball ended up within the rough. He went on to shoot 84!! After he told me that when he felt the ball on the very first hole success off the toe of his driver, he spent the rest of your spherical trying to “Fix his swing!” How could we sum up his third spherical?? INCONSISTENCY!

Now I realize a tight, consistent golf swing doesn't happen overnight, it requires practice and in most instances some outside help. Whether or not it comes from a single in the quite a few swing gadgets for sale right now (some of which could be beneficial.) Or, it can come from private lessons on the local membership or in the friend or family members member who really has a clue. (If you already know a single of these people take benefit!) Then out to your range to struck buckets. The point is we are willing to attempt to fix our swings and locate that elusive CONSISTENCY. Let’s face it, hitting a ball “On the screws” feels wonderful and when you'll be able to success the sweet spot a lot more usually your handicap will reflect it, and your enjoyment of your recreation will boost exponentially.

So, if you want to administer CPR to your swing with out the paramedics, take a second and pay a visit to my blog. And remember Maintain YOUR HEAD Straight down!!

Keys to Golfing Better

Friday, October 10, 2008
The golf professionals do have something that they agree on. If you do not keep your balance during the entire swing, it is not possible to have a good stroke. It sounds simple to keep your balance, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, it is impossible to have good balance when you are so tense that you are “white knuckling” the club, your entire body is stiff, and you are trying to hit the ball too hard.

When you are just starting to play golf, you are frequently warned to not hit the ball too hard. Energy that is focused will make the ball go much further than a hard swing that does not make contact with the ball at the club’s center. When you are well balanced, you are more free to hit the ball correctly.

Keep your head still, with your eyes focused on the ball. The more still your head is, the better you will be able to see the ball. This helps to create the foundation for you to keep your balance. Any movement or distraction that hinders your balance will make it impossible to focus on the ball. It is imperative that you keep your head perfectly still and do not move it during your swing.

If you want to keep your balance, you need to relax your body and muscles. If you don’t relax, then your head is going to move.

If you will watch yourself in front of your mirror, you will soon realize that you need to relax your muscles for your head to stay still while you swing. No two golfers have the same build, so you will have to figure out some things for yourself. It is a necessity to begin by keeping your head in the same position from the beginning to end of your swing. If you keep your head still, you will be able to focus on the ball, and you will turn your hands at the right time.

You will be able to cure many of your problems just by keeping your head completely still. It will be impossible to incorrectly grip your club without losing your balance and moving your head.

If you don’t follow through correctly, you will not be able to keep your balance.

If you concentrate on your balance and keeping your head still, then you will not swing too hard or pull your club away. It will be impossible to put too much strength into your swing. You will be relaxed and will have a smooth swing and a successful finish.

Keeping your balance is necessary for you to enjoy a great game of golf. It will take time for you to see definite improvement, so be patient. Concentrate on keeping your balance and your head in one place and in no time you will be enjoying an excellent golf game that your friends will be envious of!

Golf: Changing the Awkward Shots Into Opportunities

For some of us golfers, this is something that happens to us more often that we would like. You know what I am talking about. Shots that throw you off balance or aren’t as simple as instruction videos or professionals make them look. Here are some great ways to overcome the awkward shots.

When you have an awkward shot to make, think about how you can swing, keep your balance, and keep from moving your head. Then imagine the line your club travels along.

Prior to setting up your shot, consider where the club head needs to travel for the greatest distance in a straight line. Keep in mind that the ball makes contact with the club head for several inches. After you make a few practice swings, you will be able to see what relationship your feet will have with the line and then you can determine your stance.

It is important to keep from swaying when you are about the hit the ball. Just before you swing, see if there is any problem keeping your balance. If there is, you need to keep shifting until you find a comfortable position where there is no tension in your swing. Freedom in your muscles and mind is what you are looking for so that you will be able to swing smoothly. If you are fidgety when you address the ball, you are not going to be able to focus on the ball. Be sure you keep your feet still.

Ensure that you can see the ball from the beginning to end of your swing. Even if it is a difficult shot, do not lose focus on the ball. This will help you hit the ball cleanly and solidly.

If you keep your eye on the ball, then your swing will be free from faults and the ball will be hit correctly. If you can keep your head still for the entire swing until the club head meets the ball, your swing will definitely improve. Then if you have an awkward shot, you will be able to hit it with confidence and assurance.

Bad or difficult weather can make any shot more difficult. When the wind is blowing, it is important to keep your feet closer together. It is natural to think that you just need to hit the ball harder, but the wind makes it even more important to hit the ball correctly.

The more awkward the shot, the more you need your muscles to be relaxed enough to make the shot. Here is a tip. The shorter the shot that you need to make, the closer your feet should be brought together. Hit the ball true, instead of with all of your strength to keep it from bouncing away and reducing the distance that it travels.

Awkward and difficult shots are something that every golfer needs to learn to deal with. Once you learn how to handle them, then you will be much more confident and be enjoying a lower golf score!

Golf Training Is The Key To A Better Golf Game

Wednesday, October 8, 2008
Over the years, golf has become a favorite pastime and hobby for millions of people in every part of the world. Golfers come from many different backgrounds as well, and many of them were first introduced to golf and gained a deep interest in it through following the achievements of golf greats, like Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus. While not everyone can reach the levels of achievement like the legends, anyone can improve their game if they practice their game using golf training devices.

While the vast majority of golfers will probably never feel that playing a perfect round of golf comes easy to them or becomes effortless, with patience and practice almost anyone can get to the point where they feel confident and might even make that elusive hole-in-one. At the very least, with the proper training they might discover that they are able to make par more consistently and even have more holes that they can birdie or eagle.

For the most part, those who take up golf for a hobby have a desire to get out and enjoy the out of doors, to walk the course and visit with friends, while engaging in a fun and healthy activity. But, just about every person who invests money in quality golf equipment also wants to make the most of their game, so using the various golf training accessories that are available on the market to improve makes a lot of sense.

Whether you decided to pick up the game of golf after watching a professional tournament and found yourself inspired by the play, or because some buddies encouraged you to join them on the fairways, the chances are high that you could stand to improve your game to some degree or another. The best way to do that is to seek out professional training from a golf pro giving golfing lessons or pick up some of the many golf instruction and training tools that you can find these days to help improve your game and make you a better player.

Buying golf training aids is usually the simplest way to improve your game and it is also a less expensive than signing up for golfing lessons with a pro. There are many different types of golfing accessories that can help you improve your golf swing, golf slice, golf swing plane and golf swing speed, and get better at hitting the ball squarely so it stays on the fairway and out of the rough.

A simple piece of golfing equipment is braces for your back and wrists that can help support a good posture and a proper swing. You will find that even a slight improvement in your stance, posture, swing or follow through can result in a better score. Over time, as you continue improving these small areas of your play, you will find that these little improvements can end up having a big impact on your game, especially if you are consistent in your practice and patient with yourself. Once you have tried the simpler and basic golfing accessories to help improve your game, you might want to then expand your efforts and make use of a golf training course on video or get started on those golfing lessons from the local pro. Whichever method you choose will probably depend on your budget and your schedule. Many people like the convenience of the DVD course because they can use it whenever they have some spare time, rather than scheduling a series of lessons with a professional instructor.

The Mental Game Of Golf And The Ego

Monday, October 6, 2008
The mental game of golf is rooted in concentration. Concentration is the root of golf mastery. It is much more than the ability of not being distracted or even visualizing the golf shot.

Granted, hardly any of the authors of ANY golf instructional book have comprehensive training in golf psychology, so let me give you some tips for peak concentration on the golf course and how to master this mental game of golf. I'm not talking about "grinding" out on the golf course - this will burn you out early in the round and mentally deplete you.

To begin with, play the golf swing you brought to the golf course - trying to fix your golf swing on the course is a recipe for disaster. There is plenty of time to fix your golf swing on the range after the round. The only thing to concern your self with is how to score!

Your thoughts need to be focused on getting the golf ball into the cup in the least amount of strokes possible...the object of the game! (How soon we forget this fact) The only things you should be thinking about while you plan your golf shot is the target, distance, direction, wind speed, your lie - and any other factor that comes into play.

Before you can master the mental game of golf you MUST forget about your last golf shot and what score you might shoot. Only concentrate on the golf shot at hand. Discipline yourself to stay in the moment - this takes time to master. If you want to become an accomplished golfer you will master this skill.

Once upon a time your ability to concentrate was incredible. Before you could think or understand what words are. This was when you were a baby. Your brain was a sponge. As a baby you could hold your attention on anything in your field of vision without any distracting thoughts.

As you got older and learned how to talk and to think you soon became aware of that little voice inside your head that seems to be with you during every waking moment. Some people call this little voice you're "ego". The harder you try to silence this little voice the louder it gets. You're ego is always telling you that the golf shot is too hard, or that other golfer is better than you. You need to quiet this little voice to become proficient at the mental game of golf.

Zen master Dogen Zenji teaches not to stop negative thoughts in your mind...let them stop by themselves. When a negative thought enters your mind, simply let the thought come, and then let it go. It will not stay long if you are not attached to the thought. When you TRY to stop your thinking of a negative thought, it means you are bothered by it. Don't be bothered by anything and the mental game of golf will become easy for you.

At first glance it may seem these negative thoughts are coming from outside your mind. The truth is these thoughts are only waves of your mind - like waves on a ocean. If these waves do not bother you they will gradually become stiller and stiller. In five or ten minutes your mind will be completely serene and calm. At this time your breathing will become quite slow.

Now that your breathing is slow and your mind is calm, you can nourish your mind with positive swing thoughts. Your mind follows your breathing, if you are breathing slowly; your mind is ready to focus on only the thoughts that will allow you to play the golf shot at hand.

If your ego gets in the way and you are thinking of how to impress someone, this thought will get in the way of your objective to play the shot at hand. Let the thought come and let it pass - do not try to get rid of it, let it pass on its own, like a wave on the ocean - this is the essence of the mental game of golf!

Golf Swing Help: 3 Tips To Add 10 Yards To Your Golf Swing Distance

Are you looking for golf swing help? These 3 tips will add 10 yards to your golf swing distance:

1. Golf Fitness Training

Have you ever wondered how the world's top golfers manage to drive the golf ball so far? Did you notice that many of them look very fit. For example, much of the power in Tiger Wood's swing is attributed to his tremendous flexibility and core strength.

Their strength and flexibility does not come out of thin air. These professionals work out at the gym when they are not on the golf course or driving range. A little bit of weight training, lots of flexibility training and core training add a lot of power to the golf swing techniques of these top golfers. An additional advantage is that golf fitness training is done indoors, so you can get your workout no matter what the weather is like outside.

You, too, can do the same thing and add many yards to your golf swing. Even if you cannot work with a dedicated golf swing trainer, many gyms offer a Pilates training program. Although Pilates does not specially target golfers, the general core training and flexibility exercises in the program will still help you a lot.

2. Use The Longest Distance Golf Balls

Did you know that the longest distance golf balls can travel 260 yards when hit by an amateur golfer? CNN's Golf Labs actually tested more than 50 of the best golf balls in play today, using a machine to hit the balls with a normal driver.

One of the longest distance golf balls is Noodle+, which travel 259 yards. Another excellent golf ball, Nike One Platinum, travels 240 yards. Tiger Woods actually uses this ball, because it gives him the greatest control over his game.

You could be losing many yards from your drive by using cheap golf balls. Try a top-grade golf ball and add another 10 yards to your drive.

3. Getting The Correct Golf Clubs

Are you using the correct golf clubs? Amateurs have these 3 main problems with their golf clubs:

  • Grip - Are the grips on your golf clubs the right size for you? A grip which causes you to hold the golf club too tightly or too loosely can cause you to slice or hook the ball, losing precious distance in your drive. More than one golfer has found his slice miraculously disappearing once he got the grips on his clubs correctly fitted.

  • Length - Yes, length matters. Too long or too short, and your swing could be badly affected. In the past, picking the golf clubs with the right length shaft was a hit or miss affair. However, with modern technology, many golf shops are equipped with golf swing analyzers and can analyze your golf swing and suggest the best shaft length for your driver.

  • Flexibility - The more flexible the shaft of your golf club, the more power you have on tap. Unfortunately, more flexibility also means more torque, which can lead to a slice or hook. If you find yourself suffering from a bad slice, you may want to test a driver with a stiffer shaft. Conversely, if your golf swing techniques are good and you consistently hit the ball straight, getting a driver with a more flexible shaft could give you more power in your swing and a an extra 10 yards in distance.

Using just one of these golf swing help tips could add 10 yards or more to your drive. Use all three and gain 30 yards.

What Every Golfer Needs to Know About Establishing Their Swing Plane

Saturday, August 30, 2008
New golfers shouldn't think about the plane of their swing, they should be concentrating on the shape of their swing. The golf swing consists of a number of different planes, that will be shifted during the course of a players swing. It is important for golfers understand that there is no one swing plane in golf.

The swing plane is the path that the clubshaft follows when a golfer swings his golfclub. However, and this is unfortunate, but there are a number of other factors that affect a golfers swing plane. These other factors are, a players weight, height, posture, flexibility, the thickness of your torso, and the dew point. A players swing plane can get complicated, especially if they are try to cover all of the possible variations in the plane from address to the end of the follow through.

The plane is constantly changing with the swing. The golf swing is an on going thing that can get really complicated. Think of the swing as a shape and not a plane.

The plane of a golfer swing will be dictated to a large extent by the angle of the clubshaft at address. For instance a swing that you take with a wedge, should naturally be more upright than your swing would be if you were using a driver. This is due to the fact that the driver has a longer shaft than the wedge and a flatter lie.

Most golfers will maintain the plane that they establish at address throughout their swing, but this is not always the case. If your favored shot happens to be one that bends in the air, your swing plane is going to be tilted to either the right or the left to compensate for the balls flight. Although whenever you are hitting a straight shot, your swing plane needs to remain consistent.

It doesn't matter what level of experience you are at in the game, you can always improve your swing by watching other player. You can learn a lot from other player that have some of the same characteristics that you have. You should pay attention to other players that have the same body size, pace, and swing shape as you, and note the kind of mistakes that they make when they are under pressure. When it comes to shapes every golfer is going to be different, but they will all have something to illustrate. Pay special attention to golfers that swing the same way that you do, and try to figure out what they are doing to make their drives sail 300 yards down the fairway.
